The Chicago Public Schools allow you to access your online Impact Gradebook and other CPS network only programs from home or any other outside internet connect. Here is how.
In order to access the CPS Network you need to use Virtual Private Network. You can access it at connect.cps.edu
The page will open on a screen showing a small black bar crossing the bottom. CPS is scanning your computer for any spyware, malware or viruses. If you are using a CPS computer you should be in the clear. If not you might need to install an anti virus program on your computer if you haven't already done so. AVG is a very good free anti virus program. It can be downloaded here.
A box like the one above may appear during the scan asking you to accept the digital signature. Click yes. Clicking cancel will end the process. Once the scan is completed you will be asked to insert your login and password. This is the same login and password you use for everything CPS.
Make sure you let your browser allows pop ups. The Network Extender will only connect to the CPS network through a pop up. See the help files for your particular web browser to allow pop ups.
Now you are on the CPS Network. You should have blue links to all of the websites you access normally through CPS. Clicking anyone will take you that particular program or website. When finished please click the disconnect button that appears in the pop up box.
If you have any problems with the VPN when not in the school building call 773-553-4VPN (4876) Hours: 5:00pm to 10:00pm Monday through Friday and 8:00am - 5:00pm Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays.
